As far as I am aware the maintainer option will only work from a cold reboot, and from the console (USB?) port only.

There looks to be a reset pinhole next to the power connector that should restore the router to factory defaults.

But if all else fails, and assuming the auto-install feature is enabled, you could try sticking a basic config file (with a blanked or known admin password) on a freshly formatted usb stick (name this file fgt_system.conf) and power up the 30D with this USB stick installed.

Hi there,

The maintainer works from a power cycle, and type "maintainer" as username, bcpb+SN as password within 30 seconds after login prompt. To factory reset, push the pinhole during 30 seconds from power cycle.

Thanks

kit

did try power cycle or unplug power to reboot, same no luck to login as maintainer

yes this product with usb management port only

try that pin hole, whatever plugin power or unplug power around 30 sec, no response to reset

and Dave, you said the only way is using another workable device with known login and password to boot the device up, but where I can get the conf file?

Hi guys, I have discovered procedure to log console by FortiExpress:

1.Connect your device on FortiExpress by USB cable

2.Log your device properties appear on FortiExpress

3.Select Console by CLI icon

4.Console lon on prompt appear on screen

5.Remove power jack

6.Connect power jack too

7.Console propmt appar and YOU ARE READY to keep a key to stop boot...

8.Menu is ready for you

that wll only let you into boot loader menu. This cannot directly be used to do a factory reset. You could use the bootloader menu to format the boot device which means that config plus fimware are gone afterwards. Than you would have to reinstall a firmware image via tftp or maybe usb.

when you access the device you can load a firmware from tftp automatically reset to factory settings with admin access without password, then, the backup is another thing that as you know you must have NOT on the device but somewhere else (if not it is not a bacup but a copy). The RESET to the factory settings implies the cancellation of all the parameters that can be set on the device itself.

Bye

PS Bootloader menu

: Get firmware image from TFTP server. : Format boot device. : Configuration and information. : Boot with backup firmware and set as default. : Quit menu and continue to boot. : Display this list of options.
