How to check if my FortiGate is claimed on FortiCloud?

Hello.

I am trying to figure out how fortinet stuff works, and it seems like it's tied up to the cloud. It looks like I have to get my fortigate unclaimed before I can use it. Is that correct?

I haven't found anywhere to put the serial number into, to check warranty status and if it's claimed.

When I enter the SN into the forticloud I get this:

Invalid input data:
Please double-check the Fortinet appliance registration number you typed in. If your input is correct and the problem persists, please submit a customer service ticket.

It is the 100% correct SN I am using. Could this mean my 101F has been claimed and is unusable?

Thanks!

Most likely it is bound to an existing FortiCloud account.

If the FGT has internet access you should see in the main dashboard or in the FortiGuard menu it it's registered and to which account.

Is it a new purchase bought through a local reseller or bought online from ebay/amazon ?

This is purchased from someone who didn't need it anymore so just took away power and gave it to me. No reseller or anything was involved.

I have done a factory reset on it, that was no problem at all, but I'd like to know if I can use it with forticloud.

This was the info that I needed, thank you!

It is registered to some company and has about half a year left of license.

Looks like using these as a private person isn't viable, I cannot unclaim it without logging in to the original owners account, which I obviously don't have.

You can speak to someone at that company that has access to the account in the support portal that its registered to and ask him to transfer the device to your own ( which you would have to create ) .

Hi @Jelle1 ,

If you PM me with the SN, I can check whether it's registered under your organization.

And please make sure that you purchased this device from the supported party/vendor/reseller, etc.

Regards,

Jerry

There is no organization though. I am just little private me who would like to use the features, or at least check if someone else claimed it. I'll send you the SN, thanks.
