How to block P2P / BitTorrent Sites?

So I never thought of doing this before, but a employee has been downloading illegal movies from p**atebay. I was only made aware of this from my ISP sending a email on behalf of Twentieth Century Fox Anti-Privacy. Now I' m faced with fines :( So I have a few questions... What can I do to block BitTorrent sites? What can I find out whos doing it? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I got one of those letters (personally) when I used Bit Torrent (for a day!). I uninstalled that sucker and never looked back! They can' t get you for downloading files, they get you when you UPLOAD them. The way these torrent programs and P2P work, is that while you' re receiving bits and pieces of the file, you are also allowing others to UPLOAD them from you. That' s where ya get screwed! Very early on, I set up my FGT to throttle my upload speeds to those so small it' s nearly negligible. This way the program can communicate with the cloud, but and leeches will get very VERY tired of waiting long before any discernible amount of information is sent upstream. Your mileage may vary. By the way, no company should allow P2P on their WAN. Costs too much if you get caught, and it' s the IT guys that will hear the river of crap that flows down from the top....

thanks for the info everyone! I' m trying to disable the P2P via Application Control under 5.0 Patch 2, but its not working :( When I try to create a new Application Sensor, It does not let me create a Name for the sensor - I can create one with no name. When I try to toggle the switch under the wan policy it does nothing. Is this a bug?

another tip: enable to flag ' oversize files' in the AV setup and set the size to 20 MB or so. This way, you get logging entries for substantial file downloads along with filenames and URLs. Alas, be sure not to set the action to ' block' , though, or else Windows updates won' t make it any longer.
