How do I properly use fortiswitch templates in FMG?

Just got a hold of my first fortiswitches. We already use fortigate firewalls all managed by fortimanager.

Can anyone give an example of how/when to use fortiswitch templates? Is it only when every switch is the exact same? For example if I have a rack of 6 switches, every switch wont be the same. I might have some switches that are all DATA/VOICE but other switches will have printer ports or APs. In that case is there any reason to use a template?

Hi,

If you need a configuration to replicate same across multiple switches of same type, you may use a Template. If there are multiple switches with different VLAN requirements you can still create a template for each and save them and it can be reused if similar configuration is required on another switch, and there by reducing the time and effort involved in configuring it from scratch.
