Free forticlient not working in Linux after 1 month

Hello All,

I am testing free Forticlient VPN only in Ubuntu-24 and Fedora 41, unfortunately it doesn't works after 1 month trial period expired. It's showing "Forticlient- Zero Trust Fabric Agent" only. However, free forticlient working fine with the Windows and MacOS even after 1 month free trial.
Note: I am using latest version of free forticlient vpn only.

- For the Linux I tested Strongswan VPN (CLI) and that works fine, but not with GUI "Network manager"

I guess you mean IPsec VPN.

For NetworkManager there are two plugins: strongSwan and libreSwan. Didn't test them but I know they both support ike 1 & 2.

No, it shouldn’t break after a month — I have it running on a Debian system for over a year without issues.

What can happen, however, is the following:

On Linux, updates to libraries such as libssl, glibc, or network-manager can break the client and cause it to stop connecting.

It could also be:
– If you have it based on certificates and the certificate expires monthly.
– Passwords with expiration policies.

Some time ago, I had a similar case. I was using MS AD for authentication, and on WS and LX devices, for some strange reason, it stopped working after a few days, and I had to reconfigure it.

@Igneus I will give it try. Thank you for the suggestion. For you it's working free forticlient on Debian. Is there any specific configuration needed to run flowless free forticlient on debian? In production, I am going to use it in Fedora.
