The customer wants to know if he can protect at least 50 web applications on the Fortiweb 3000F.

With 3000F you can protect more than 50 applications. 

You can look at Virtual IP and server policy value. Also if you can look data sheet, you can see application license is unlimited. For 3000F there is a hardware limit.

To determine how many applications can be protected by the FortiWeb 3000F, the process involves understanding both the FortiWeb’s throughput capacity and the throughput requirements of each application. Here’s how you can approach it:

1. Understand FortiWeb Throughput:

For instance, if the FortiWeb 3000F has a throughput capacity of 600 Mbps, it can process requests up to this limit. However, organizations typically reserve 20% of the capacity for peak traffic, meaning only 80% of the total (480 Mbps in this case) is utilized for normal operations.

2. Analyze Application Throughput:

For each application, gather throughput data from the network layer firewall protecting it. Collect average and peak throughput data over a significant period (e.g., 3–12 months) to get an accurate understanding. For example, if an application has an average throughput requirement of 10 Mbps, multiply this by the number of applications.

3. Calculate Total Requirement:

Multiply the throughput per application by the number of applications you plan to onboard. For example, 50 applications with an average of 5 Mbps each would require 250 Mbps.

4. Assess Feasibility:

Compare the total throughput requirement (250 Mbps) against the usable capacity of the FortiWeb (480 Mbps in this scenario). If the total requirement fits within the usable capacity, the FortiWeb 3000F can handle the load. If not, adjustments or capacity planning will be required.
