Hello Steffen,
I update the switch as per compatibility matrix and deauthorize with clean wipe the switch.
I repeated the authorization process again and it is still showing offline as per screen shot.
I refer to the kb article as per your post from the debugging the following error was displayed
daemon: wait for event up to 0s:240000us
361s:891ms:985us flp_event_handler[734]:node: internal1 received event 110 state FL_STATE_READY switchname flags 0x124a
361s:892ms:55us flps_fsm_transition[148]:node: internal1(peer:S524DN5019000072 owner:S524DN5019000072) | state: 2 | event: 110
Unsure what is next step to resolve the offline issue.

Dear Jomof,
it may be, that the FortiSwitch OS is not compatible to your actual FortiOS for the Fortilink - please refer to the attached compatibility matrix :
https://fortinetweb.s3.amazonaws.com/docs.fortinet.com/v2/attachments/d756e8a9-6d2d-11e9-81a4-005056...
In case these are compatible, please refer to the following KB article to check the connection between both devices.

Best Steffen

Dear Jomof,
it might need to check with configuration of Switch and Fortigate, so it might be better to raise a TAC case with the serial number of the Fortiswitch to check this a little bit deeper.
Best, Steffen
I will open a case as suggested.
Thank you
So what happened? Having same issue with brand new switches and firewall after upgrading
Did you check and make sure NTP is working on the FortiSwitch? Time being in sync is a key requirement for the FortiGate to be able to recognize the FortiSwitch.
