Dear Fortinet Community.
We start to upgrade our network infrastructure with FortiSwitches. Now we have ordered several devices (400 series) and the SFP & SFP+ Transceivers. We can see that the SFP+ Transceivers have a label stating that this Transceiver is a original Fortinet Transceiver. The other SFP Transceivers seem to be from Finisar.
My question to you community. Is this normal or the standard, that Fortinet ships OEM compatible Transceivers from Finisar? I am wondering about the difference.
For any answer from your experience would be very helpful :)
Have a great day.

It's not uncommon for network equipment vendors like Fortinet to ship OEM-compatible transceivers from third-party manufacturers like Finisar. These third-party transceivers are often certified and tested to work seamlessly with Fortinet's networking equipment while providing cost savings compared to official Fortinet-branded transceivers.
The key thing to consider is that these OEM-compatible transceivers should meet the necessary technical specifications and compatibility requirements for your FortiSwitches. They should perform as expected and integrate well into your network infrastructure.
It's also important to ensure that the transceivers are covered by Fortinet's warranty and support policies, especially if you encounter any issues. In most cases, Fortinet should support third-party transceivers if they are officially certified for use with their equipment.
If you have any concerns or specific compatibility questions, it's a good idea to reach out to Fortinet's customer support or your Fortinet sales representative for clarification and assurance regarding the use of these third-party transceivers with your FortiSwitches.
In summary, using OEM-compatible transceivers like those from Finisar with Fortinet equipment is generally normal and can be a cost-effective choice, as long as they meet compatibility requirements and are supported by Fortinet.
