Fortinet Recommended FortiOS Version?

Hi,

Cisco have a "Gold Star" recommended image for most of their products which makes it easy to choose what version of IOS to install as you can be confident that the gold star image is the most stable version with the fewest bugs.

Where can I find the same information for Fortinet products please? Specifically a FortiGate 600F right now.

Recently I have been recommending 7.0.x (latest patch) but I guess we should start using 7.2.x soon?

Both version are stable.

We always recommend the latest GA release, but you need to verify the known issues for each build.

Fortinet has also been labeling their code as Feature or Mature releases. Personally, I would lead toward sticking with Mature releases for production unless there is a specific feature in the newer revs you are looking to take advantage of and like @ndumaj has stated, are aware of the known reported issues reported in those releases so you can make an informed decision. Every network environment is different, so those issues might or might not be applicable to your situation...or the benefits of the features you are after outweigh the issues known about that you might experience.
