Had a bit of a problem with a change gone wrong and thought I'd be able to easily roll back, am I right in assuming you need to create an ADOM revision in order to go back to it?

If you don't have a backup, then you can revert to a previous revision of the Fortigate THEN import the policies again from that revision.

In addition to ADOM revision, you may also refer to the actual device config revision and download the actual device config to be re-loaded back into the local FortiGate.
