Fortimanager cloud license count

We decided to implement an SD-WAN solution for two branches and the head office. We plan to deploy one FortiGate firewall at each branch and a clustered firewall (HA pair) at the head office. We are facing a licensing issue when attempting to apply a FortiManager Cloud license for this solution due to the clustered device. Can we proceed with a FortiManager Cloud license for three devices for this solution, or do we require a license for ten devices?

Hi Yasindu99,

FGT in HA = 1 license. ( based on doc the FGT secondary does not account )

FGT standalone = 1 license.

Hi,

You need to purchase license as FortiManager count FortiGate SN as 1 device even their in HA mode.

Thanks

Hi @Yasindu99 ,

FMG Cloud license count is the same as FMG on-premise license count.

1) One FGT HA cluster will be treated as one device for the count;

2) I would recommend you to get a 10-device license at least.

In the future, if you need to enable VDOM, one VDOM will be consuming one license count as well.

Jerry

Hi,

Thank you for your response to this issue. Based on the replies, I understand that I cannot use three device licenses for this scenario. However, according to the FortiGate guide I have attached, it appears that one license can be used for a cluster device. I am confused about this. Could you please clarify?

Hi @Nur ,

Thank you for addressing my issue. As per the document and your screenshot, I see that the cluster device has only one license. I will open a support case to verify this and update the community afterward.

You will want to verify if the HA pair counts as separate devices in the Cloud  license. Some licensing models necessitate a separate allocation for each firewall, including HA units, so it may be best to check with  Fortinet support to ensure the count is correct and avoid any potential issues.
