Hi All,
I am currently using fortimail firmware version: 6.02 (6.02-FW-build267-200123) and I want to upgrade it to latest firmware version 6.4.x. While I was reading the release notes below I found the "upgrade path" for 6.4.0.
Any 4.x release older than 4.3.6 > 4.3.6 (build 540) > 5.2.3 (build 436) > 5.2.8 (build 467) > 5.3.10 (build 643) > 5.4.4 (build 714) (required for VMware install only) > 5.4.6 (build 725) > 6.0.5 (build 148) > 6.2.4 (build 272) > 6.4.0 (build 384).
My question since I am using 6.02 at the moment. Will I able to upgrade to 6.05 easily or I first have to downgrade it to 5.4.6 (build 725). Because the upgrade path for 6.0.5 is:
Best Regards,
reading release notes of 6.0.3-6.0.5 gives you an insights what are added/deleted functions with each version. For me, secure backup of 6.0.2,upgrade to 6.0.3 secure backup again, then jump to 6.0.5.

In a case like this, you want to look at the 6.0.5 release notes and confirm what's required to get you there. The 6.0.5 release notes confirm that anything higher than 5.4.6 is OK to directly upgrade to 6.0.5
So you should be able to go 6.0.2 -> 6.0.5 -> 6.2.4 (build 272) > 6.4.0 (build 384).
Though now since 6.4.1 is out you can do this instead: (Confirmed in the 6.4.1 release notes)
6.0.2 -> 6.0.5 -> 6.2.4 (build 272) > 6.4.1 (build 414 )
As a general rule you NEVER want to downgrade. Best case you're in an unsupported configuration, worst case you end up loosing your configuration or creating a security vulnerability.
The release notes say " Firmware downgrading is not recommended and not supported in general.", and then proceed to tell you that if you really want to do it, you need to do a factory reset first anyway...
