Fortigate60C and ZyXel VMG3321-B10B modem(in bridge mode) problem.

Hello,

In our company we use internet in ATM traffic type (ADSL2+). There are two ZyXel VMG3321-B10B modems configured in bridge mode an connected to Fortigate60C's WAN ports i.e. all ADSL configurations are made over Fortigate (Interface). Until yesterday there is no problem but yesterday our phone and internet lines are transffered from copper cable to fiber wired substucture (from our Internet Service Provider) i.e. we still get ATM traffic and ADSL2+ but over fiber cable. From this moment our Fortigate60C  lost connection with these ZyXel modem's.(We don't made any configuration changes until this moment.)

To reslove this problem, with one of the modem I exit from bridge mode and configured it as normally in route mode - with user name and pass given to us by ISP. With this configuration there is no problem with internet connection. But when I select bridge mode in ZyXel modem and connect it to fortigate60C wan port there is no internet at all. In Network -> Interface menu over Fortigate i see the connection status between modem and Fortigate60C => status: failed. I am sure that configuration in Fortigate is right - with this I mean user and pass given ISP.

There is an interesting issue that I want to menton: I deleted all default WAN Interfaces over one of the modems and create a new one ("Add new WAN Interface"). I configured this interface in bridge mode and ACCIDENTALY problem was solved. Connection between Fortigate60C and modem was successful and we get internet. But when I try do all the same with the second modem it wasn't successful. At this point I decided that maybe there is a problem with second modem and I connect the first, (normally) working in bridge mode modem, instead of the second (with second's modem splitter and second's modem WAN port=WAN2 on Fortigate60C). After this point we lost connection at all again. Even when I reconnect the firt modem to it's own place(with first's modem splitter and WAN1 port on Fortigate) there is NO connection.

I hope that you can help me.

Thanks in Advance.

Senay

I would check with your ISP whether there are special requirements with the fibre connection. For example, a VDSL connection with the German telecom delivers internet only on VLAN 7, and TV reception only on VLAN 8. To confuse customers, Telekom's own modems remove the VLAN tag before handing the traffic down, modem of other vendors do not.

If you know that bit even a FGT can be used for VDSL connections...
