We are trying to connect from a windows 10 machine using FortiClient: 5.6.6.1167 to the firewall Fortigate model 60E. There is also a recent release of FortiClient 6.0 for Windows. We are facing frequent disconnection while connecting with the 5.6.x.x version of the client. My question is if we install the new version of the client will it solve the problem and also would like to know if there is a change of a version between the client and the IOS version installed will there be any problem? I have also attached the bytes received and bytes sent along with the duration
For version compatibility, you should check FortiOS release notes for that particular version. But generally newer version of client works fine with older FortiOS. I wouldn't worry much about that part as a cause of inconsistency.
But we're hearing many problem report w/ 6.0 for Win in the forum. I haven't upgraded my 5.6.2 client on my win10 laptop since I don't have any problem so far and therefore no incentive to upgrade. So I don't know if 6.0 causes any issue or not.
But most FortiClient problems happen between FC and Windows. We almost never got problem report for Mac + FC we have a bunch of Mac user remote workers. Another factor my win10 laptop almost never had a problem might be because I shut it down every time I close it (not to suspend).
This might not help your situation, but this is my general idea and experiences.
