Fortigate Licence Server Access - cannot access

My Lab setup has a few VDOMS, 
I'm working on the root VDOM, 
from this vdom, I can ping FortiGate licence servers ( from the root VDOM )
Yet, when I access the GUI I'm met with a "cannot access licence server" message.
Does this access need to be provisioned from a particular VDOM or port ?

Hello @Simon_Bingham ,

If you use a trial license this acting should be normal. 

Normally, FortiGate uses management vdom for updates. This vdom is selected as root by default. If you haven't made any changes, it should provide access via the root vdom.
