Fortigate HA swapping

Hi,

My question is if 2x Fortigate 800C with firmware versions for both have: v5.6.0 build1449(GA) currently set to HA Active-Passive. 1st question is: how do I switch manually for the current slave(passive) to be the active member and put the master(active) into passive?

Is there a downtime for swapping from active-passive?

Thanks

Jeff

You just have to force the master to fail - pull the cable from a monitored port, or in the CLI of the master "exec reboot".

I would first set the HA override on the slave:

config system ha

   set override enable

end

to make sure the cluster is not reverting to the old master unit after the reboot.

Yes, there will be a short interruption. Regular traffic maybe 10 pings, and all VPNs for sure.

Hi technician,

Depend of the configuration, but main idea is to reset uptime or decrease priority on the master.

Or unplug one of the monitored ports
