Fortigate 60F Using a Unifi AP6 Plus
Hey Guys
I have recently got a Fortigate 60F, and i would like to use my Unifi AP6 Plus to manage wifi and SSID's, but im a little clueless on how to make that work and how to allow the unifi to manage the connection through the fortinet firewall
I dont have a spare device to run a controller 24/7 sitting around, but i did read unifi ap's can be managed by an app, i am just not sure what settings to setup on the fortigate.
I am not after a complex setup, i just want the AP to bridge with the firewall and then the AP to do the SSID's and wireless work

Greetings!
To integrate your UniFi AP6 Plus with a FortiGate 60F and manage WiFi and SSIDs, follow these steps:
1. Network Configuration on FortiGate:
- Connect the UniFi AP to a FortiGate interface.
- Ensure the interface is configured with a suitable IP address and subnet.
- Enable DHCP on the FortiGate interface if the UniFi AP requires an IP address dynamically.
2. Firewall Policies:
- Create firewall policies on the FortiGate to allow traffic from the UniFi AP to the internet and any internal resources it needs to access.
- Ensure that the necessary ports for UniFi management and device communication are open.
3. UniFi AP Management:
- Use the UniFi Network app to manage the AP. The app can be installed on a mobile device and used to adopt and configure the AP.
- Follow the app's instructions to set up SSIDs and wireless settings.
4. Bridge Mode:
- Configure the UniFi AP in bridge mode if you want it to act as a simple access point without routing capabilities.
- This setup allows the FortiGate to handle all routing and firewall functions.
5. Testing:
- Once configured, test the setup by connecting a device to the SSID broadcasted by the UniFi AP.
- Verify internet connectivity and access to internal resources.
This setup allows the UniFi AP to handle wireless management while the FortiGate manages network security and routing.
Regards!
