Fortigate 60E
Just bought a used 60E for learning and training. Booted and everything seems ok, but the login prompt shows failover login? I tried password recovery using the maintainer option, but no luck, any advice to this noob would be greatly appreciated.

Fullmoon,
How do I reimage, is that the same as a factory reset? Do I have to have a base image on a flash drive etc? If you could send me some instructions I would be willing to try it. I will try to google it or see if there's anything on Youtube. Appreciate the feedback.

hi islanderfj,
Not sure if you have seen the maintainer process- you need to do it via the console cable I think. The process is described here:-
https://kb.fortinet.com/kb/viewContent.do?externalId=FD34757
If the maintainer account has been disabled via config then I dont think this process will work and you may well be stuck with a unit you can't use.
If you can get in via the maintainer account then you may be able to "exec factoryreset" the unit to get it back to dafault config- but not sure on that detail.
I'm guessing from the name of the admin account this unit was part of an HA pair perhaps? You don't know any of the account details for the partner unit you could try? Can you contact the seller perhaps?
Hope that helps a little.
Kind Regards,
Andy.

I believe "Failover" is the name of the box. The Maintainer process should be sufficient to get into this unit if enabled. Otherwise, it's a format flash, TFTP image to restore the unit.

Hey everyone. I tried the maintainer option and I'm sure I got it within 14 seconds of getting the prompt. I also pasted the password to ensure I got it right case and all. If the maintainer account is disabled in config, would I get a different error message other than Login incorrect?
Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it!
