What version of FortiClient? Are the drivers on the laptop up to date? Does this work with other devices?

A compatibility issue between the Intel network card and FortiClient. Have you tried updating the Intel network drivers from the HP website or Intel’s official site? Also, check if the network adapter settings (like TCP/IPv6, Jumbo Frames, or Energy Efficient Ethernet) are interfering with the VPN connection. Another workaround could be using a USB Ethernet adapter or Wi-Fi to test if it's specific to the Intel NIC. Let us know what works!
