Forticlient locked

Hello, A customer locked its FC and (logically ) he forgot the lock password in a XP station. (Not fortimanager locked, just locked for the PC user) Even with administrative privileges FC cannot be uninstalled if it' s locked. Anyone could help with this? Some key to remove in the registry? thanks in advance!

You' d better ask support for some special tool to unlock it. I remember they had one.

Hello Vanc, i did. The trick provided by Tac guys was to remove a key by editing the windows registry, and restart FC... but (always there' s a ' but' ), you cannot ( I cannot at least) remove registry keys without stop fortishield net service... but you (- I -) cannot stop fortishield net service with FC locked nor shutdown FC... so it seems I' m trapped in a kind of chicken-egg loop.. BTW, I' ve boot today with a forensic tool live CD and remove the registry key by hand as a last resource meanwhile I seeking or waiting from forum or TAC another workarounds.. Not clean.. FC seems to be more intrusive that I' ve thought (in a windows environment at least). regards,

I had the same issue about 7 months ago, unfortunately I can' t find my post. So you should go in safe mode, and then search your registers for any FortiClient related keys.

The most expensive and scarce resource for man is time, paradoxically, it' s infinite.

Indeed Laf, SafeMode is the another way to go. Just for the record: - boot in safe mode - edit Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Fortinet\FortiClient\FA_FCM\password (ensure administrative permission before) with a blank value - reboot and you' re done. regards,
