Forticlient VPN installation crash
Hi every one.
We use in my company the ForticlientVPN-only software. We use it to access the VPN of our customer. (link https://links.fortinet.com/forticlient/win/vpnagent)
On 2 HP laptops, the installation of these software crashes, avec that sequence :
- Installator downloads package -> OK
- Installator extracts package -> OK
- Then a window opens 0.5 sec and close immediately
- Then nothing.
The installation of the Forticlient licenced software works fine on theses two laptop.
Do you have any clue ? Thank you in advance

Found the solution :
I looked in the temp folder (C:\Users\<windows user>\AppData\Local\Temp) where I found the "FortiClientVPN.exe" extracted by the installator. Beside I had a "FortiClient00000.log". Inside that log I could read "C:\Users\RMI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\FortiClient00003.log", which lead me to think the é letter in my user name is a problem. Also in the log there is :
[SETUPEXE 9720] 2025-01-24 11:37:17 Executing: "C:\ProgramData\Applications\Cache\{B94F6ED2-7970-4E4D-9445-DE275493ABA0}\7.4.2.1737\FortiClientVPN.msi"
I copy paste that path in the explorer, and the installation worked ! The problem was UTF8 in my username with the é.

Hi,
Try to do some cleanup on your computer using RevoUninstaller.
There may be some registry leftovers from the first crashed installation.
Uninstall both FortilClient and FortiClientVPN using revo then reboot your computer and run windows updates.
I have experienced the same on a couple DELL laptops and there were some registry leftovers from the previous installations.

Thank you for your answer. I just installed Revo, in which I only find my licenced FortiClient who is installed on my computer (in trial mode). Don't find any trace of the previous installation, I have a doubt uninstalled this one will helps de VPN only to get installed.
I think the VPN Only version does nothing except extract the package (which you can fin in temp folder). it doesn't even try to install something, it just shuts down.
I will try to uninstall neither the less to try every possibility
