Good morning,
After upgrading to Android 15 (phone One Plus 12), the Forticlient VPN stopped working.
When I tap connect, like usual, the gray dots start becoming green, but at about 60% they start over and no error is shown. It does the same result even putting wrong credentials, seems that it never reaches the portal.
The portal homepage is correctly displayed with a common browser.
VPNs (of course) are working for other android/ios/windows devices.
Tried varoius version of the client: 7.0.x, 7.2.x 7.4.x all with the same behaviour.
Before upgrading android, all worked fine.
Some configuration details:
Device: One Plus 12 (CPH2581_15.0.0.204(EX01))
Client: Forticlient VPN 7.4.1.0176
Firewall: Fortigate 100F 7.0.15
Portal port: 10433
What I can else do?
Thanks
Hello @GiovanniF
First of all I suggest you to make sure that your device is working well.
Do you have any software on your phone which can block your connection ?
Additionaly, you can switch wifi for another one, or use your mobile data for test purpose.
After previous steps, I suggest you to log to your FortiGate unit and go to :
Log & Reports --> Events --> VPN Events
In this place you can see some errors related to VPN with information indicating root cause.
If it will be not enough, you need to make debug SSLVPN
for example by :
diagnose debug application sslvpn -1
diagnose debug enable
Any missing information you can find in article :
Thanks @Tajfun ,
I think that the device is working well (All apps run without no problem, evenTailscale VPN client runs perfectly).
No event related to my VPN/Device are recorded, even enabling detailed log with:
diagnose debug application sslvpn -1
diagnose debug enable
the console has no output when I try to connect. While using another client, the debug log start to print a lot of lines about the new VPN connection (thus the print-log works as expected).
Seems that the Fortigate VPN daemon doesn't receive any packet from my client, I checked the link that you kindly attached, but honestly without any row in the log, is difficult to go further.
I think that the Forticlient lacks some kind of Android permissions or its traffic is blocked by some policy. I changed the (few) options in app management without any effect.
So, in this case as you said, it is necessary to check permissions on your Android device.
Also, please check configuration of VPN client on Android.
Additionaly you can install the same version of FortiVPN on another mobile and import configuratoin from previous device to see results.
This should clearly give an answer on which side the problem is
Fresh installs on varoius android device, all with same Forticlient version and same settings -> Works perfectly (no special permission are required during install or use)
Done same on Android 15 device -> Doesn't work
Unfortunately I don't have another Andoid 15 device to check if is OS related.
Perhaps (and I hope) someone who's reading can test and add his result.
I'm experiencing exactly the same. OnePlus 12, no connection to Fortigate through Forticlient, after update to Android 15.
Exactly the same no my Oneplus 12.
After installing Android 15 update it never connected again.
Already tried reinstalling the app but there Is no way.
Hope Fortinet works it out
I am having the same issue with iOS also after upgrading to Forticlient 7.4.2.0149 and the latest update 7.4.2.0151.
I have six different connections that will now not connect. I fill out the user and password and hit connect. Shows "Connecting" and that is as far the app goes.
Uninstalled/reinstall the app, reboot the iPhone 15 so far nothing is helping.
Seems like a security setting in the phone blocking the final connection.
Mike
Good news,
Yesterday I update my OnePlus 12 Android to CPH2581_15.0.0.304(EX01) and VPN-SSL started to work again.
