Forticlient Edge Web Extension

Hi,

For some reason, everyone using edge at my company is suddenly getting nonstop notification from FortiClient System Tray Controller saying: "Microsoft Edge" extension policy anomaly detected, please restart the browser.

This happens anytime you try to open any websites and they just get stuck in loading until it fails. I restarted the browser and I even shut all Edge operations in task manager, nothing works. I cant seem to find any solutions online so was wondering if anyone was familiar with this issue and if they managed to resolve.

Thanks!

After checking the internal ticket I found out that the issue is not properly fixed yet and the case is reopened. You should still randomly get those errors. The team is working and a definitive solution will be provided in 7.2.2.

It's mentioned as resolved issue in the Release Notes for 7.2.0 [851700]

https://docs.fortinet.com/document/forticlient/7.2.0/windows-release-notes/22791/resolved-issues

What version of FortiClient are you running?

Looks like its version: 7.2.1.0779

Which should have resolved the issue, maybe by extension policy it means the extension which is the "Fortinet Privileged Access Agent"??

I am facing this same issue now. Is there a solution for that? Currently we are using the version 7.2.4.0972 of forticlient.

The definitive fix for issue #851700 will be included in 7.2.5 that is planned to be released in July. If you are interested to test the fix in an interim build, you can open a ticket with TAC support and ask for build 994.

This issue is still present in 7.2.5 but it looks like turning off Startup Boost in Edge stops it...

This was a valid workaround used prior to the fix, alongside disabling in Edge:
"Preload the new tab page for a faster experience"
"Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed"

Upgrading to 7.2.5 should have solved this issue, if this is not the case please open a ticket with TAC support.

we are on 7.4.3 and some users are still getting this notification.

For some a clean reinstall helped, for others just removing the two forti nics in device manager and reboot helped...and for the rest nothing worked so far.

We migrated from 7.2.8 where this notification never showed even once and only started happening with the 7.4 branch. I tried 7.4.4 but had to rollback immediately because 7.4.4 often fails to keep ipsec connected for more than 10 seconds.

But back to the Edge Policy Anomaly - are there any more ideas how to fix it?
