Forticlient 7.4 stuck at connecting
After updating our machines to the 7.4 update(VPN only), we noticed a few laptops were getting stuck at "Connecting". After browsing this forum and other sites, we had no luck at fixing the issue. Reverting back to 7.0 did resolve the issue. After checking out the services, I noticed the FortiClient Sys Monitor was not running in the taskbar. I went to start it manually in the Forticlient folder and received an error(mfc*.dll not found). I doubled checked the laptops with the issue and one did not have Microsoft Visual C++ installed and the other had the 32bit version installed. After installing the 64bit version on both laptops, Forticlient shows the percentage and connects fine. Hope this helps someone.

windows 10-->upgrade to window 11, Forticlient upgrade 7.2 to v7.4: when connected, windows restart with blu screen and "system service exception " and "ndis.sys"; tried windows update but no result.
restored to windows 10 but Forticlient 7.4 stuck at connecting; how can it be fixed? it seems impossible to come back to v7.2 too; really frustrating case

We encountered this issue as well, but resolved it by repairing or installing the C++ Redis packages in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Since the installation or repair of the C++ Redistributable packages, we have not experienced any further issues.

Thank you!
I spent some time trying to download previous versions, reviewing logs, and after a while of struggling with it, the solution you described worked for me.

Hello Slizzard,
Thank you for reaching out to support portal.
I would recommend you to capture the debugs on the FCT itself and look into the logs there.
Regards,
Piyush

Trying installing this Visual Studio Redistributable: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
The Forticlient VPN Application is trying to start fortitray.exe, but it needs a .dll file to work (mfc140u.dll) which is missing from Windows.
After installing and a reboot, your Forticlient VPN app should work again.
