Solved! Go to Solution.
Creating the 5.6.1 installer works, well it's listed and downloadable. However pushing the 5.6.1 install via EMS to a client PC broke FortiClient completely. The install ran but when the laptop rebooted FC had disappeared completely, looks like the uninstall of the previous client worked but the 5.6.1 install failed. So I rebooted the laptop and downloaded the 5.6.1 installer from the EMS server but when running it get "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package". Now manually installing 5.4.4 build created by EMS. Once that's installed I'll reboot and try 5.6.1 again.
See attached screen grab.
I've just done the same! Ticket No. 2440807
did the same here: ticket number 2440851 . Rescheduled the installer to start at 11:50PM

Yup it's a known bug, there's a customer support bulletin available explaining it, looks like the fix will be out in 5.6.2 due for release on Nov 13th.

a lot of bugs are gone with 1.2.2 and we are very happy now .... (Except that software admininistration is corruption installers) .... maybe there are more major issues with 1.2.2 but we dont have issues further with 1.2.2.

I'll take you up on your offer. That would be super helpful. I have a call scheduled tomorrow at 10 AM with an EMS engineer to try to solve our issues. We are a new customer. I wanted to get the latest version installed so that we are fighting bugs like I have been for the last month.

I'd watch out, just had a bad experience, found this thread while searching for why.
My EMS was set to auto update the client, so when 5.6.1 came out it uninstalled from the fleet and failed to install. I saw there was an update, and updated EMS to 1.2.2, which went fine and does look/feel much better, when i found the issue with 5.6.1 I changed the installer back to 5.6.0, no auto update.
despite having the settings set for deploy at 22:30 and prompt user if reboot is required, it pushed immediately and auto rebooted workstations, had to turn off deployment.
My EMS 1.2.1 downloaded the 5.6.1 client, has created a new 5.6.1 installer in my profile, and i got a nice email notification from EMS to say it was available and my endpoints were out of date. Dashboard shows the endpoints pending software update.
But I can't get them to auto update and running the installer manually errors out.
Is this the same issue you the rest of you are having?

Does this have the FC 5.6.1 build fix?
They removed all FortiClient 5.6.1 files from the support portal and placed an Customer Support Bulletin PDF in the folder.
FortiClient 5.6.2 will be released by 13th November.
