I am using the FortiGate VM version and found that the built-in FortiLink is unable to connect to the FortiSwitch, consistently showing as offline. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue? thanks!
Did you follow this guide.
Give them a bit of time. After authorizing, they will reboot. Also be sure that your fortilink interface has NTP server enabled and that the DHCP server is providing that NTP along the address.
If the device doesn't still come online, check that if it has obtained an IP address. If it has, login to the device via SSH and check that the time matches with the Fortigate. If not, set correct time and hope that the device comes online. Update the software and it that doesn't help, figure out what's wrong with the time synchronization.
