Have some FortiSwitch 224E's (6.4.4) managed from FortiGate 60F (FortiOS 6.4.3)
Ran Diagnostics and Tools, Cable Test through the firewall GUI
Three different ports with patch cables tested as follows:
Pair A - OK / 5 meters
Pair B - OK / 2 meters
Pair C - Short / 0 meters
Pair D - Short / 0 meters
Does anyone know why Pair C and Pair D show a short and no meaningful distance estimate?
These are commercially manufactured patch cables that appear to be undamaged. Two plug into the NIC ports of UPS's. The other plugs into an HP server iLO port. It would seem odd that all three cables are defective. I tested one of the 3 cables with a Fluke cable tester and all 8 conductors tested normally.
I would like to now that as well? I'm troubleshooting an issue with user. I ran cable test and have pairs c and d failed. User typically connects via IP Phone and then to the dell docking station. We by pass the phone and connect the cable from the wall straight to the docking station and the test PASSED. So we swap phone and also cable between phone and docking station and still not have it to pass. I noticed that all the port connected to the IP phone failed pair c and d test. I don't think we have a cable problem. In my opinion we might have some incompatibility between fortisw and the IPPhone (the pone port works a a switch) we are using.
Any buddy knows why this pair failures or have experienced a similar failures?
