FortiProxy License Expire

Hi. Can I check if FortiProxy license expire, will the current configured web filter and antivirus profile still function as normal? Will firmware upgrade still be successful? What about explicit proxy settings configured, will it still work?

Hi @sleepingzzz ,

It depends on what licenses you are asking for.

Literally, if UTM licenses expire, UTM will not work anymore except for the URL Filter which does not need a UTM license.

If your Firmware Update license expires, no, you can't upgrade the firmware via FortiGuard.

For Explicit Proxy settings, I believe that they will still work.

Hi @dingjerry_FTNT,

Thanks for the reply.

Can advise what is UTM license? Is it the IPS, Antivirus and Web Filtering license?

If disable the web filtering, antivirus and IPS, will FortiProxy allow traffic to go through when license expire?

Hi @sleepingzzz ,

Yes, UTM means something like, AntiVirus, AntiSpam, Web Filter, DNS Filter, Application List, IPS, etc.

And yes, FortiProxy should still have the basic functions on traffic when there is no license.

You can check all licenses status in the License Widget in the Dashboard.

Does that means FortiProxy will still work as normal, no blocking of traffic when we disable all the features? Just that we are not able to block malicious traffic when license expire?

What happen if we do not disable those features, will it still block those malicious traffic as what it is doing now, when license expire?

What about policy rules? Will it still work after license expire?

Thanks in advance

Hi @sleepingzzz ,

As I explained before, if your UTM licenses expire, no, they will not take effect even if you apply any UTM profiles in any firewall policies.  Except for the URL Filter list which does not need a valid Web Filter license.

And the firewall policies are still working with the basic functions even if the licenses expire.

After the licenses expire, you have no connection to FortiGuard servers, no UTM features, no firmware & General Updates, and no Hardware / Technical Coverage.
