FortiManager 7.4.6 Disk Size - Is 500GB Really Necessary?

We are currently running 7.2.x with 160GB disk and have had this disk size for some time without any issues. Is 500GB really required for 7.4.6 or is this just a blanket suggestion? We are utilizing AWS so if it is not required or will cause any issues we aren't going to add any space due to increased cost.

Hi @Number1FortiFan ,

Fortinet's documentation specifies that FortiManager-VM requires a minimum of 500 GB of disk storage. This recommendation accounts for system operations, device management, and potential future needs.

In FortiManager, a portion of the disk space is reserved for system use and unexpected quota overflow. For disks up to 500 GB, the system reserves the smaller of 25% of the disk space or 100 GB.

If your current 160 GB storage has been sufficient and you don’t plan to enable additional features like Management Extension Applications (MEAs) or FortiAnalyzer, you might not need the full 500 GB. However, upgrading to 7.4.6 could introduce new resource demands, so following the recommendation ensures optimal performance and future scalability.
