Hi all!
I'm new to this Forum, so please apologize, if I'm doing something wrong or if I ask questions
solved long ago (I promise, I've done Research before)...
My question: what happens to the config of a FortiGate, which is already in Operation, if you enable VDOMS
and want bring the original config in one VDOM and a second one to another?
I'm talking about NAT mode.
I've just found descriptions about configuring VDOMS initially.
Thanks in advance for any effort,
Sascha

Hi Sascha,
When you enable VDOMs, the existing configuration becomes the configuration of the root VDOM automatically. Your Fortigate continues to work as before. Then you create a second VDOM and you configure it from scratch.

Short and clear!
Thanks for the quick answer!
Sascha
Oh, sorry. I forgot one aspect.. Can the second VDOM be managed by a different Manager?
Or, can the Fortigate entirely be connected to another Manager with the same configuration?
Hi,
Nothing you just activate the Vdom visibility on the Gui but same if the Vdom is "disabled" you always work in the Vdom root.
Then when you active the VDOM all your original config still the same in the vdom root.
