FortiGate 60C

Looks like they are ready to release the FGT-60C, and in the release notes i see two lines: SDHC (Class 6 or higher) 4 GB or higher for logging capabilities SDHC (Class 6 or higher) 16 GB or higher for WAN optimization i believe it will support SD (Secure Digital) memory cards, for these features ! WEEEHOO ! They have also released a new software - FortiExplorer, and it is for quick setup via a USB cable directly connected to the FG-60C i found all this in the MR1 Patch4 directory on their FTP site.

biggest disadvantage: New Power-Supply with no normal Plug !!
hm, the old power supplies won' t work with new devices anymore... thats bad! But the new power supplies have a lock on the plug to the Fortigate, which is actually quiet good for that devices! regards, roman

Unless you have fat fingers like I do and the FWF unit. They put the antennas right next to the power connector and I have a hard time unplugging the unit without unscrewing the antenna.

A good fix would be to isntall more ram. In my opinion this has been fortinets problem from day one. If you are going to base your firewall scanning (mainly AV) on proxy technology then you need to have a good amount of memory.

Hi, Does anyone know how much system memory (RAM) the -60C has ? Agree with previous comment re -60B falling down due to a lack of RAM. If it me, or is anyone else asking ' WTF... 10/100 WAN interface???' Given the deployment of >1GB FTTx based internet connections and their use for home / SoHO and Remote office users, what is Fortinet thinking not releasing these with 1GB WAN ports? Fortinet what are users supposed to do have a 1GB throughput -60C plugged into their 1Gb FTTP connection and do 100Mb due to saving $5 on the NIC ? When will we be seeing a SoHo Model with 1Gb throughput, SDHC for logging/WANOpt AND 1GB WAN ports ? Thanks Justin

Not within the next years in terms of UTM! From no manufacturer at all, because AV and IPS performance - in terms of Gbps - needs processing power, which is only available in carrier class devices!

FortiGate-60C (18:52-06.18.2010) Ver:04000010 Serial number: CPU(00): 525MHz Total RAM: 512 MB NAND init... 128 MB MAC Init... nplite#0 configure the switch in port-Mode and use it as a wan-port, so you have a firewall with 5 Gbit-WAN-Ports.
