FortiGate 60C

Looks like they are ready to release the FGT-60C, and in the release notes i see two lines: SDHC (Class 6 or higher) 4 GB or higher for logging capabilities SDHC (Class 6 or higher) 16 GB or higher for WAN optimization i believe it will support SD (Secure Digital) memory cards, for these features ! WEEEHOO ! They have also released a new software - FortiExplorer, and it is for quick setup via a USB cable directly connected to the FG-60C i found all this in the MR1 Patch4 directory on their FTP site.

In terms of sizing, it' s nice that the 110C, 80C and 60C have Gbe ports, but when you really need Gig performance you should really look at 200B, 310B and 620B machines. The real pitfall is that people stare at the pure firewall performance figure, for sizing you really need to look at AV perf, IPS perf etc. Also if you are upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0 and start using Application Control this has a serious impact on performance, you might need a bigger box. Application Control is in essence IPS on layer 7. The 80C is much better than the 60C on IPS and AV! Bear that in mind. Cheers, Eric

Hi there, was anybody trying to use bigger SD cards like the one shipped? I did put in 16GB Class 6 Kingston cards, logging looks fine, but I receive errors like: " Log disk failure is imminent, logs should be backed up" .... quiet often, on different boxes! regards, Roman

the bigger, the better did you try to format the SD card ?

Yup, just got a FWF60C from Fortinet today. The quick start documentation that comes with the box has those requirements.

The cards are actually working... for logging and wanopt! But there ist just this error message coming up from time to time.... Even if there is nearly no traffic on this boxes yet! msg=" Log disk failure is imminent, logs should be backed up" I opened a ticket... lets see.... I' m kinda looking forward for patches to the 60C, because we had some spooky behaviour where only booting the boxes helped.... regards
