FortiClient update

Hi! A couple of days ago, my FortiClient began to update itself with a background process called " update_task.exe" . The process takes 100% of the CPU time and run forever. After restarting the computer, the backround update job starts automatically again. I' m currently using FortiClient 5.0.9.347 I know that there is a new Version 5.2 online so I tried to install it. I expected that this update bug is fixed in the newest version. After starting the installation routine I get an German error message " Das richtige FortiClient Image wurde nicht auf dem Server gefunden" which means that there is no proper FortiClient image found on the server. This error occours right after starting the installer after loading the file list from the server. Is it possible to fix the update problem of version 5.0.9.347? Deactivating this functionality will also work but I can' t find an entry in the settings for deactivating the auto update. Is there a offline installer available for version 5.2 which doesn' t need a image from the server? Thanks, Domar

You can get the 5.2 installer from http://forticlient.com/.

I know that I can get the istaller from forticlient.com but there is just an online installer, which doesn' t work for me (see my first post for details).
Sometimes it takes a long time to patch the signatures. Even a fresh download of signature is faster.
And this update requires 100% CPU time? Is it possible to download this signatures manually with my browser?

That online install won' t install FortiClient 5.2 if you already have 5.0 installed because Fortinet doesn' t allow 5.0 to 5.2 upgrade at present. But you can first backup your current config from 5.0, then uninstall 5.0, then use the online install to install 5.2, then restore your config. As to the signature, you can' t download signature manually.

Thank you! I would try uninstall 5.0 and then install the Version 5.2.

I heard that this update bug was fixed recently. You may just need to wait for it to roll out to the next signature update.

Sometimes it takes a long time to patch the signatures. Even a fresh download of signature is faster. It' s definitely a bug.
