FortiClient telemetry connection key with invitation

Hello EMS admins

FortiClient EMS 7.4.0 with FCT Agent 7.4.0 on Windows 10 client.

Enabled the "FortiClient telemetry connection key" option in EMS settings.

When registering a client with invitation it doesn't prompt for telemetry connection key.

Did I miss something or is this a normal behavior?

Hello,

When you enable the telemetry connection key from EMS settings.

Two behaviors can be observed based on the installation method.

1) If you install Forticlient via EMS generated version.

As expected behavior telemetry connection key will be embedded and it will not prompt while trying to register to the EMS server.

2) If you install Forticlient via direct download from support.fortinet.com without any preconfiguration.

As expected it will prompt for a telemetry connection key because the key will not be included in the package.

Recently downloaded 7.4.3 for the ARM processor.  Installs ok, but when connecting to EMS it asks for the telemetry connection key.  However, we do not have one defined in our EMS Settings.  Where would one go to look for this key to get the client registered?

try System Settings > EMS Settings > next to Listen on IP there should be a QR Code which will also show the connection key.

or FortiClient telemetry connection key in the same menu.

When I do that, just the QR code appears.  Thinking it is because the Connection Key field just says Optional

Also continues to ask for it if I send an email invitation.

Thank you.  I'm able to install to and register IPADs and the like via that method, but the device in question is a Surface Pro LapTop.
