FortiClient installation with FortiClientOnlineInstaller error

Hi,

 

the official Fortinet support could NOT help and refered me to the forum here. I have a few notebooks from Lenovo (V330) with Windows 10 Pro build 1709.

Installation with the OnlineInstaller downloaded from fortinet website doesn't work anymore, installation cancels always at "installing drivers" and rolls the whole installation back. I tried many things, I also looked up in device manager for virtual adapters, I looked in the registry but everything is clean and fine.

 

Maybe someone could help because I need forticlient on these notebooks. I hadn't problems installing forticlient in the past (until april 2018).

 

I have a logfile but I can't manage to upload it here, it has 1,22MB and zip files are not allowed.

I meant the Password lock for the forticlient.

But maybe in the normal version there is no configuration for that.

In the EMS Forticlient you can lock the Forticlient with a password and the user cannot disconnect / change the forticlient without it.

That was the reason why my Installations failed like yours. But if you do not have any password on your forticlient - nevermind.

 

But you have said, that you are in the local administrator group ? Did you already tried it with another user account like domain admin or something else which has admin rights?

Ah no I don't have a lock because there is no fortinet installed yet.

 

It's not an update which fails, it's a complete first installation that fails! These were 2 brandnew computers and the error is from the first time.

 

I will do a complete recovery to factory settings, clean harddisk etc and then configure it again with Windows 10 1803. Then I will try to install FortiClient, if the installation fails again it is the hardware! I have about 10 other computers with no problems with FortiClient installation this year, only these 2 didn't work.
