FortiClient causing slow load times for web pages

Hello - I have FC v 3.0.599 (MR7) installed on about 40 workstations. We have a FortiMgr 100 (MR7) for managing these FC' s. I' ve noticed that since FC has been up and running that nearly everyone has experienced a change in web-page load times. Some pages are taking nearly 5 minutes to load. I can' t seem to pinpoint why this is going on - I do know that if I encounter a web page that is taking forever to load, I can shutdown FC and then re-visit the same web-page and it loads instantly. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I' m missing in the configurations of the FC' s that will improve this? Edit: I should also mention that the types of web-pages that seem to be problematic have some sort of submittable form. ex - It takes five minutes to update a web ticket on the FortiNet support site after you click the ' submit' button.

is your WebFilter protection active ? if so, turn it off and try

Yes - I should have mentioned that. I have tried disabling the web-filter, no change. I have tried disabling the firewall, no change. I have tried disabling both at the same time, no change. Shutting down the FC has so far been the only way to work around this - which is not realistic because, obviously, I can' t keep turning off FC on workstations just so someone can access a web-page they need to use for five minutes.

Start a ticket to Fortinet; also install a new one on a XP fresh installation and see what happens. If you have many FClients installed you could also buy a Forti Manager and use it as a local FDN server ;).

The most expensive and scarce resource for man is time, paradoxically, it' s infinite.

laf - thanks for your response. Unfortunately - I' ve had bad experiences with Fortinet support. I' ve opened three web tickets and the support I received was minimal and the response time is too long, this has led me to this forum! I have also installed a Fclient on a brand new workstation (running XP pro) so I will test on that machine shortly. Also, we have a FortiMgr - FortiMgr 100 to be exact - but I' m not sure if that is setup as a local FDN server or not.

MR7 patch-3 will be released very soon (this week). Since the GA (3.0.595), there are some web filter related fixes. Probably it will have some improvements for you. The build number will be 3.0.606. I am running with this build and it looks pretty decent.

Thank You - I was actually just going to upgrade to build 3.0.603 - do you think I should just wait for the 3.0.606 to be released?

Please wait for 3.0.606. It also contains other fixes for bugs such as memory leak, large email sending failure, etc.

vanc - do you know when patch 3 will be available on the fortinet support site? I just checked and the newest version for FortiClient is Patch 2 (3.0.603). Thanks

Patch-3 should be in support web site now. Please double check. I also found a slow page loading problem for some web site, such as http://news.com. Dev team fixed that, but no build is out. Tried temporary binary (dev build) and it' s now lightning fast. Exited waiting for patch-4 now.
