FortiClient and CiscoVPN client

Hello, I' ve ran into a problem where FortiClient and the Cisco VPN client, when installed on the same machine, drop all network interfaces (don' t show up in ipconfig, etc). If I reset the LSPs, winsock, etc...the interfaces come back. I' d like to know if any of you have noticed this problem and if so if you know of a work around. I' m running " vpnclient-win-is-4.8.00.0440-k9.exe" for Cisco VPN client and FortiClient " FortiClientSetup_2.0.148.exe" . The FortiClient is installed w/o anything but the VPN portion installed (no AV, Firewall, webfilter). Thanks

At one time mine was able to co-exist too, like for maybe a week. This was due to the fact that I hibernated my machine after restarting after the initial load of the VPN software. After doing a true restart, then the issue crept up. Once it screwed up my network interfaces, I reloaded XP SP2 clean with all the updates, and only had loaded FortiClient and Cisco VPN and it screwed up my NICs right away. This was with FortiClient 2.0.148 and CiscoClient 4.8.00.0440. I have not tried it with the latest FortiClient software 3.0.142 as I don' t really need them on my laptop anymore...just use CiscoClient now to get into my work' s network, then remote desktop to my PC at work and VPN from there with the FortiClient to a remote site. I don' t have time to be reinstalling Windows XP again.

I have successfully installed both Cisco VPN Client ver. 4.8 and the lastest Forticlient on my laptop without issue after some trial and error. First, remove all VPN software on the machine. Load the Cisco client on the machine first, and then reboot. Once rebooted, make sure the Cisco doesnt load at startup (although its okay for the underlying services to load). Then load the Forticlient, but only with VPN and no other options, and then reboot. Once the Forticlient comes up, stop it from loading at startup as well, and check the box unloading IPsec when the program closes. Just be sure that the two arent running in the taskbar at the same time and you should be fine. Of course, follow the instructions at your own risk- FYI, I am using an IBM T40, Intel 2200b/g wireless and Intel 100/ve ethernet, Windows XP Pro SP2 and the most recent versions of both clients.

I' ve tried Greenbow client and it looks pretty nice. It wouldn' t work for our setup since we use RSA for token based authentication. But, I beleive it may be possible to use it for FC and Cisco. This sounds like a conspiracy theory, but I think the FortiClient doesn' t play well with others because (big shock) they don' t want it to. Does that suprise anyone? I think they' re dumb enough to think it' ll drive everyone to use their product alone. I currently wont even consider Fortinet for VPN unless they clean up their SSL VPN. I refuse to install FortiClient on another single PC. I' d recommend a VPN concentrator. The dialup VPN client function on a Fortigate is WEAK!

Its actually because about 90% of the VPN clients out there are using the same underlying code to tap into the network stacks. And the other 10% tap in the same stack as well. Rule of thumb is to only use ONE vpn client, anything else is asking for trouble. I have installed this greenbow, but havent tested it against an Fortinet yet. Hope it works though, would solve my nightmares as i have to support netscreens, fortinets and cisco' s based customers.
