FortiClient VPN unable to backup the config, Is this related to SAML no longer caching credentials?

We recently started to upgrade our FortiClient VPN to 7.2.2.0864 for all installations due to a recent CISA bulletin.  As a result, roughly 25% of all installs will no longer cache the SAML credentials.  We also found while troubleshooting this, that the FortiClient does not have the ability to backup it's configuration.  Click the Backup button, enter a path and file name, and nothing happens.  It looks like it did the backup, but no file is found anywhere on the disk.  

 

Are these two symptoms related?  Or is this FortiNet's passive-aggressive way to get us all to purchase the full FortiClient which does have support?

Regarding the ability to backup the FCT configuration please check the following configuration:
EMS 7.2: EMS > Endpoint Profiles > System Settings > UI > Enable " Do Not Allow User to Backup Configuration "

Hi ndumaj,

I'm not sure we're talking about the same solution.  We use FortiGates and the FortiClient VPN (free client) for VPN access to our internal networks.  The client's do not synchronize their settings with the FortiGates.

Hello ScooterSG1,
The following settings is for Paid FCT managed by EMS - EMS 7.2: EMS > Endpoint Profiles > System Settings > UI > Enable " Do Not Allow User to Backup Configuration "
FCT version has limited features.
Check the user permissions that you have installed the FCT also the user that you have run. Administrator user might be required.

Regarding your question about FortiNet's motives, it's important to note that any assumptions about a company's intentions should be based on concrete evidence. Fortinet is a reputable company, and issues with software can often be addressed through support channels. If you're unable to find a solution through troubleshooting, reaching out to Fortinet support would be the next best step.

Hi Allowea,

No insult was meant, rather tongue-in-cheek.  FortiNet provides the FortiClient VPN for VPN access, as a free access point.  My understanding therefor is that I cannot seek support as it is not supported.  If you know this to be false, please advise.
