When downloading the FortiClient VPN from https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads, it is listed as Version 7.2
But the installer for FortiClient VPN only that is downloaded from this page is v7.0.5.0238
Which then in turn installs a different version again...
This is causing us, and our customers issues.
Can anyone shed some light on where to get the installer for v7.2?
Hi @ScottMcAllister,
You can download the version 7.2 of FortiClient at support.fortinet.com, navigate Support > firmware download. Choose Forticlient and navigate the desired version.

Minh
So there is no longer a freely downloadable version of the VPN only FortiClient? It now requires a login and a licence?
In the past, there has always been 2 versions available.
A publicly available download, which provided an MSI installer as part of a wrapped Online installer (exe), and a licenced EXE download.
Hi,
You may download FCT 7.2.2 free version here:
https://fortinet.egnyte.com/dl/BEQ8obB9Xk
Thank you @btan
Is there a support.fortinet.com link I can share with my customers, as I assume the link you shared will not permanently exist or be continually updated with later releases?
The link above has no expiry date, so it should be usable at least for the next few months.
Unfortunately there is no link in support.fortinet.com if end users do not have a license.
I will inform our web team to update the link on https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads to download FCT 7.2.2 free instead of 7.0.x.
That's great, thank you! if you could ping me here when that's updated, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I'd reckon for FCT VPN free version, the online installer will retrieve the most stable FCT version to date, which is now FCT 7.0.9.
As far as I know, there shouldn't be any major difference between FCT 7.0.9 and 7.2.2 free version. Advanced features in 7.2 branch are only available in FCT paid version.
That makes sense :)
All we do is automate the packaging of the latest release for our customers, if they request the latest release, we go with it :D
Hey @btan just to add to this, I realised that the file you provided was FortiClientVPNSetup_7.2.2.0864_x64.exe but I'm looking for FortiClientOnlineInstaller.exe v7.2
