I am trying to use FortiClient VPN 7.4 on Ubuntu 22.04LTS OS. IPSEC connection gives an error and does not work. I tried to search for the error but could not find solution.
Error is:
On CLI: Error occurred in handler for 'keytar.setPassword': [Error: Unknown or unsupported transport “disabled” for address “disabled:”]
On GUI: Failed to connect to VPN tunnel. Please try again. Details - Error: Error invoking remote method 'keytar.setPassword': Error: Unknown or unsupported transport “disabled” for address “disabled:”

Did you follow this guide exactly? https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiClient/Technical-Tip-How-to-install-FortiClient-on-Ubuntu-22-...
I installed again following the installation guide you shared and when I try it again error is changed.
Now error is:
Error occurred in handler for 'keytar.setPassword': [Error: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.secrets': timed out (service_start_timeout=120000ms)]
As final situation, error log is: VpnHandler UNHANDLED {"isTrusted":true}
I would now open a support case if you followed that guide exactly. Hopefully you purchased the paid-for version of FortiClient that comes with support. Especially with planning to run on Linux.
I followed the guide exactly but unfortunately I do not have paid version of it.
Hi yasincesur,
I think you have installed the paid FCT version. There should be no 'zero trust' term in your FCT GUI if you are using a FCT-free version. FortiClient free VPN-only version GUI should look like this.
Hi btan,
Where can I get the free version of FortiClient VPN so I can be sure it is free version. I will use IPsec on Ubuntu 22.
I presume you are a Fortinet customer (purchased any Fortinet product) and able to login to support.fortinet.com
Just follow the guide step1 to get the free version installer:
https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiClient/Technical-Tip-How-to-install-FortiClient-on-Ubuntu-22-...
I am not a Fortinet customer, I was just needed to use Forticlient VPN free version. I just checked the current version I have and it is also free one. So issue is also permanent on free version.
