Hi All,
We have a contractor who will be using their company laptop to connect to our network. I would like to have host checks done before allowing them to connect, but we are small, and do not have EMS etc.
It looks like there are some free host checks that can be setup with the free VPN client, but it appears this only works with SSL VPN. Am I correct in thinking there is no option for host checks when using IPSEC vpn?

Correct it is for SSL VPN only.
Hello fionaC,
The SSL-VPN is the only type of VPN that supports the host check capability in fortigate; IPSEC VPNs do not.
Thank you. Do you know if the SSL checks work even without an EMS license?
Yes the linked document you provided states it is "FortiGate powered" (i.e. not reliant on EMS) and also explicitly states it is supported on the Free VPN client.
