Hello,

As a service provider, we establish a connection to several customers with various VPN clients. FortiClient is one of them, which basically works well.

We also aim to automate the connection setup as far as possible and ensure that the support technician does not have to come into contact with the credentials - i.e. we integrate the accounts into a PAM system, which then establishes the connection automatically.

However, such automation seems to be difficult with FortiClient.

According to my research, there is FortiSSLVPNclient.exe (part of FortiTools), but this is not actively supported, does not support all FortiClient settings and many also have problems that no traffic passes when the connection is established with it. There are several threads about this here in the forum - without a solution.

Is it really the case that there is no stable/official variant for FortiClient and the CLI? For integration in PAM solutions?

"FortiClient VPN" is the free unsupported version.

"FortiClient" is the supported version.
