FortiClient 7.4.3 on macOS 15 Sequoia – Automation/TCC permission not triggered, SSO fails

Hi everyone,

I’m running into an issue with FortiClient VPN Only 7.4.3 (VPN with SSO/EMS support) on macOS 15 Sequoia (15.6).

What’s happening:

  • The VPN requires SSO via web browser (SAML) + 2FA.

  • On macOS 15 Sequoia, FortiClient never triggers the required Automation (AppleEvents) TCC permission.

  • I have reset TCC (tccutil reset AppleEvents com.fortinet.FortiClient), reinstalled the app, and checked Automation, Accessibility, and Full Disk Access settings — nothing changes.

  • Without the Automation permission, the embedded SSO browser cannot complete login, and the VPN connection fails.

Environment:

Personal Mac (non-supervised, no MDM)

  • FortiClient 7.4.3 (VPN + SSO)

  • Tested: full uninstall/reinstall, TCC reset, permissions check — still no Automation prompt

Questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone managed to get SSO working with FortiClient on macOS 15 Sequoia without MDM/supervision?

  2. Is there an older version (e.g., 7.2.x) that still works on macOS 15 for SSO?

  3. Any info on when macOS 15 Sequoia will be officially supported?

Happy to share logs (/Library/Logs/Fortinet, Console.app) if needed.

Thanks in advance for any help or workarounds!

Hello,

Sorry typo, I meant to say FCT 7.2.11.
You can download macOS FCT 7.2.11 VPN-only here:
https://www.transfernow.net/dl/macosvpn7211

Link is valid for 7 days only.

Hi there,

Personally I do not see any SAML VPN reported issue on macOS 15 related to TCC permission. By right, when FortiClient (aka FCT) is first installed, it asks for FortiTray/VPN-proxy extension permission already.

To my knowledge, FCT does not require permission in [macOS -> System settings -> Privacy & Security -> Automation] to perform SAML VPN. FCT does not need to show up in here.

If somehow FCT 7.4.3 does not work for you, perhaps you can try FCT 7.0.11.

Hi Bon,

Thanks for clarifying — that helps a lot. Since you mentioned FortiClient 7.0.11 as an alternative, could you please share the official Fortinet download link for that version? I only see the latest 7.4.x releases on the public download site, so I’m not sure where to find older builds.

Appreciate your guidance!
