Hi Had a FortiAP connected to a Fortigate 80C. just had a power surge and now the AP is now offlne. I have renoved it and the fortigate detects it again. it authorizes but is still offline
Fortigate is ver 5.6.9 fortinet is as out of the box the firmware update is greyed out as well

As you mentioned there was Power Surge please make sure
1. FAP Can boot up - Only way is to check the LEDs in the FAP. Check for Power & Ethernet LEDs
2. If AP powers up, check the DHCP IP and try telnet or ssh into the FAP
Also, what is the FAP model you are currently using?

If the AP is obtaining a valid IP, log into the GUI and check the status - if the AP is unable to locate the wifi controller, try manual adding a static IP setting for the Fortigate (e.g. set AC IP address 1 to <fgt IP>).
