FortiAP client disconnection problem

Hi,

Lately, we migrated from FG500E(7.2.8) to FG1800F (7.2.8). After this we encountered with clients disconections problem from our WiFi infrastructure (FAP431G(7.4.3) with 802.1X).

It seems like they are roaming all the time between APs, some client even when they are sitting same place.

During connections/disconnections ping is time-out or there is general failure.

Regards

M.

If the client drops and reconnects:

  • The client might be de-authenticating periodically. Check the sleep mode on the client.
  • The issue could be related to power-saver settings. The client may need to update the drivers.
  • The issue could also be caused by flapping between APs. Check the roaming sensitivity settings on the client or the preferred wireless network settings on the client. If another WiFi network is available, the client may connect to it if it is a preferred network. Also, check the DHCP configuration as this configuration may be an IP conflict.

So why the it was working ok before.

I don't think that problem is on client side.

As there is only a hardware change from FG500E(7.2.8) to FG1800F (7.2.8) so there shouldn't be any config issue. But still, try to compare both firewall-config, to see if there are any changes between firewalls config in terms of AP config.

Configs were compared and are ok.
