I connected the FortiAP (FortiAP-FP431F) to the lan, and the firewall is a FortiGate VM (v7.4.9 build2829 (Mature)). I found that the FortiAP can obtain an IP address from the DHCP LAN port of the firewall, but the FortiAP device is not discovered in the WiFi controller's "Managed FortiAP" menu. What could be the issue, and how can it be resolved?
hi,
under the LAN interface on the firewall make sure to enable administrative access Security Fabric Connection also.
Hi,
Do you mean to turn this on?
yes, that's the one.
is the AP directly connected to the subnet/LAN of that interface where that option is enabled ?
try diagnose sniff packet <interface_name> "port 5246" 4 - to see if any capwap packets can be see on the interface in question from the FortiAP.
Thanks. After turning it on, the AP can now be discovered. However, when I connect my iPhone to the AP, I notice that it only connects to the 2.4G band. What could be causing this issue?
not a wireless expert, but have a read at https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiAP/Technical-Tip-How-to-encourage-WiFi-clients-to-connect-to-...
