FortiAP / Fortigate Firmware updates

What is the suggested method for updated FortiAPs(And FortiSwitches for that matter) that are connected to a Fortigate? All devices are currently on 6.x and are working fine, but when I go to update the FortiGate with 7.x, should I do the Switches and APs first or last? Does it matter?

You may want to check the Firmware version compatibility matrix.

As long as they're compatible, I don't think it matter which one you do first.

It's better if FGT upgraded first to the version that is still compatible with the current FSW/FAP version. Then you can plan further from that.

Just to add on slightly on top of @darisandy statement, please check the security fabric upgrade order listed in the administrative guide:

Please upgrade FortiGate first and proceed with FortiSwitch and then FortiAP as it maintains network connectivity without the need to use manual steps.

besides of FortiAP and if you use FortiLink with your switches, have a look into the "Compatibility Matrix".

There are recommended "R" Versions for your FortiOS.
