For using FortiAP, is it necessary to use the FortiSwitch?
It is because we are currently using the FortiGate with Cisco Switch as core and edge switch.
And, we are preparing the AP project.

No fortiswitch required
I have fortigate and fortiap - no fortiswitch in sight
Likewise, I have a Fortigate and an Alcatel edge switch. No Fortiswitch.

The only thing you NEED in order for it to work is to ensure that the switch ports that the FortiAPs are connected to terminate on a firewall interface that has CAPWAP enabled.
So if you create a VLAN for WIRELESS DEVICES only then make sure it is trunked on the switch and native to the ports that the APs are connected to etc.
