FortiAP 28C seems bricked

Anybody upgrade a FAP28C to the latest code and experience problems? None of the ethernet ports comes up. Fortiexplorer see the the unt but can' t access it via the integrated cli. Any ideals?

5.0.7 to 5.2GA which is in the migration track. The unit files no matter if it' s a FortiExplorer or via WebGUI. And me correct myself, the FortiExplorer push of the image file works but ALL interfaces are in operative. You can read more about what I did and my testing here. http://socpuppet.blogspot.com/2014/07/fap28c-followup.html I would like to know how you upgraded your FAP to 5.2GA? I don' t have active support on this unit so I can' t open a ticket with TAC. BUt that bad image file message in the WebGUI is bad and specially since the md5 checks passes.

I' ve upgraded FAP-28C units to build 212 via tftp without any issues, the " image is invalid" issue is isolated to the 28C units when upgrading via GUI due to the image being slightly larger than 10MB If your unit now seems bricked then you should talk to support about an RMA edit**** I just re-read and saw you don' t have support on this unit... can you get it back up and running by resetting via the pinhole next to the power outlet?

Hi emnoc, Not sure if the AP is currently booting or not.. When you plug the unit into FortiExplorer and power it on, do you see the prompt to hit a key to enter BIOS menu? Should be some periods like below, that show up at about 1 per second ..... I don' t have a FAP 28C on hand to try this, but most FortiExplorer compatible devices work this way. If you can get into this menu you could reload the firmware via TFTP. It is pretty unusual to have corrupted firmware problems. I do know there was a bug where under certain circumstances, upgrading image from the GUI (like you were doing) results in that error and I believe it was fixed after the current latest 5.0.7 and before 5.2.0. If the unit will boot to a prompt, please try loading the firmware via CLI or from the FortiGate " Managed AP' s" section. The latter may be easier. Let me know if that works. Cheers!
