We recently purchased a Fortigate 80E/POE and 2 FortiAP/s 221E-A. One AP for our office area and the other AP for the shop area. My idea is to connect the AP's directly into the firewall. Should I create a VLan for the AP's or what is the best practice? We will have the need for some of the wifi users to have access to servers, to print to network printers and some only internet access.
Thank you

Hello and welcome to the Forums If you have free Ports on your Forti, the I would not use Vlan. We run in some problems a few weeks ago. Better define two Ports/Switch for yor APs. You have to enable capwap and setup dhcp on the switch. For different user access cases, you can define multiple ssid's and then create different policies. Best

VLAN for FAP connections and SSIDs is useful when they're not directly connected to a FGT(wireless controller). And can be easily moved when the network changes.
